Timare Tambuli Stories:

Timare Tambuli / Brahmi yogurt curry easily takes me back to my good old days in my native. Brahmi herbs grow abundantly, especially during the monsoon and one can easily find them in the farm along the streams and rivulets or any cool area. In our native place, during monsoons, this dish was prepared almost every other day as it is healthy. In fact, its juice can also be consumed raw. Early in the morning, my mother would always give it to us, saying it is good for memory. Thankfully, it doesn’t have any taste, unlike other medicinal plant extracts, so consuming it wasn’t difficult for me.

My grandmom used to say that if one can eat raw brahmi leaves daily first thing in the morning, continuously for 41 days, then he / she would become a scholar or would have an unbeatable memory. When challenged, she would say that it isn’t easy as one would find a great deal of obstacles in their way, to the extent of even sighting a snake! I have never tried this feat myself, but I would definitely like to believe in my grand mother’s wisdom.

Why anything, it is simple to cook, and a pleasure to eat!
