Fenugreek seeds come with lot of medicinal properties, thus an important part of the traditional Indian Spice box!
Today’s recipe – Fenugreek seeds Dose / Menthe Dose, is not just a healthy breakfast dish, but tasty too.
Fenugreek seeds, traditionally , is included in the food diet of lactating mothers as it known to enhance the milk supply.

Total Time: 8 hours 35 minutes (Including soaking time)
Soaking Time: 4-8 hours (Overnight)
Preparation Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
White rice: 3 glass
Jaggery: 1 lemon size
Menthe / Fenugreek seeds: 2 big spoon
Salt to taste
Method:
- Wash and soak rice with the fenugreek seeds overnight
- Grind the above along with jaggery and salt the next morning, to a fine paste
- Preheat tawa and grease with oil. Once hot, pour a laddle full of batter on the tawa and spread to make the dose
- On low heat, cook both sides ( Cover the tawa with a lid while cooking)
- Once done, remove from the tawa and serve it hot with chutney, butter-honey or any other accompaniments
Menthe Dose Stories:
Fenugreek seeds, otherwise give a bitter taste. But this particular dose, brings in the right aroma and taste of the fenugreek seeds, thus making this dish quite unique. This was one of my favourite breakfast dishes that mom prepared in the initial 40 days after my daughter was born. I personally love the unique, yet delicious taste of this dish. Without a doubt, this dish, had to come in my list of postpartum recovery meal recipes.
